News Producer - Temporary

The Hollywood Reporter is looking for an experienced News Producer based in Los Angeles.  The ideal candidate is someone enthusiastic about TV, film, moving images and popular culture. He/she will produce, write and project manage daily news show segments.


  • Plan coverage, story selection and ensure effective delivery of a daily show
  • Produce show making decisions on story lineup, video/audio elements, graphics and timing for show
  • Write stories for assigned newscasts; ensure content is factually correct and written in a clear and concise conversational style -- including teases, headlines, and copy
  • Participate in editorial meetings by offering unique story ideas that represent the brand
  • Manage production team
  • Oversee guest booking of show and generate ideas for segments as needed or assigned
  • Oversee major entertainment news events to ensure high-quality content
  • Work with digital content producers and host to ensure the best coverage possible
  • Collaborate with executive producer to ensure news coverage is compelling and accurate
  • Works with reporters and hosts on story concepts to execution.
  • Prep hosts and guests with all information on topics being discussed in the show and the visual elements attached with those topics
  • Follow through on all assignments of production team and meet required deadlines
  • Work with production team to create the show and produces integrations and sponsorships as needed
  • Coordinate content and presentation across all platforms (broadcast/digital/social)
  • Supervise pre-production and live production to ensure quality, standards and cooperation between production staff and editorial staff
  • Monitor real-time digital analytics to guide editorial and showcasing decision-making
  • Point person for all pitches for show from editorial team


  • Minimum 7 years of writing and producing tv / web news videos that reach a large audience 
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment with the goal of continuing to grow audience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be a compelling and accurate writer
  • Able to write and produce breaking news stories as well as evergreen and long-lead human-interest stories
  • Ability to manage time effectively in order to put together an exciting and informative show
  • A passion for telling innovative stories and creating compelling programming.
  • Interest in bringing to life creative stories from Hollywood 
  • Demonstrate editorial judgment and knowledge of journalistic ethics 
  • Familiar with capabilities of Adobe Premiere
  • Journalism degree preferred
